DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS GUIDE

Hello! Here is where you will learn how to play the worlds greatest roleplay game. This is an unnoficial guide, but it is very newcomer friendly.

PART 1: CHARECTER CREATION

This is (in my opinion) The most boring part of Dungeons and Dragons, and by that I mean it takes the longest, but lets begin!

This is the charecter sheet. I know it looks very overwhelming, but its actually quite simple! We will begin with the simplest stuff. Lets start with your charecters name. What do you want to name them? Thats up to you.

Next it is time to pick your class. This is like your occupation, what your charecter does. You can be a brave Fighter slaying dragons! Or a mighty and powerful Wizard casting spells to help the players

There are many classes in Dungeons and Dragons. I will list them here, but to see what changes about your charecter you must google, or this guide would get long and confusing!

• Fighter: They specialize in combat and strength
• Barbarian: Similar to a fighter, but they rush in with a fury!
• Monk: A warrior who channels inner spiritual energy to enhance thier fights
• Rouge: (sometimes called thief), They are an expert at stealth and swiftness
• Bard: known for thier high Charisma, they are musicians who use music to cast magic
• Cleric: A priest that uses divine energy to heal the players and protect them
• Druid: A priest that uses divine energy they gain from nature to heal and protect the players (so nature clerics)
• sorcerer: A magic caster who gains thier power from their bloodline and thier spells are inate(no memorization required!)
• Warlock: A magic caster who creates a pact with other-worldy beings for thier powers
• Wizard:A magic caster who spends years studying magic and must memorize spells to cast them effectivley
• Paladin:pretty much a hybrid fighter and cleric
• Ranger: A person who is skilled with the bow and is able to survive in the wilderness effectivley

Now that you have picked a class, write the number one next to it, thats your level, as you progress in the game, slaying monsters and whatnot, you gain XP (sometimes written as EXP) XP/EXP stands for Experience Points, your Dungeon master will reward EXP when you complete a task, such as picking a lock. You get more xp for more impressive feats, such as slaying a dragon! The max level is level 20, so dont try to go over it, thats the max

Its time for your background! Think of it as your charecters job BEFORE the adventure began. There are many different backgrounds, yet again if you want to see how they affect your stats, google it. I would also recommend picking up the DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS player guide! Its $60 (alot of money!) but if you really want to get into dnd its your best friend. Otherwise use this guide and Youtube videos (I will link some helpful ones in the Forums part of the dungeon). Ahem, anyways, The backgrounds are listed here below (yet again I am emphisising the importance of google)

• Acolyte: A priest/nun
• Criminal: do I really need to explain this one?
• Charlitan:An alchoholic who became a con man/woman
• Artisan: you created stuff
• Entertainer: You enjoy entertaining the people making others laugh
• Farmer: You grew crops and food. Do I even need to explain this one?
• Guard: You were once a town guard, or a guard of a whole kingdom, you decide!
• Guide: you used to live in the wilderness
• Hermit: You used to live away from people, in a hut.
• Merchant: you used to buy and sell goods.
• Noble: You were of the noble class of society. Rich, raised in a castle, recieved first class education, ect, ect
• Sage: You used to be a wizard for hire, but instead of getting paid in cash, you would ask permission to use the persons library
• Sailor: You used to travel the seas on a boat, you have vast knowlage of folklore about the sea due to the time you spent sitting in the bar listining to people talk and tell stories
• Scribe: You used to work for a scriptorium (a monastary pretty much) and you have a lot of knowlage about scholarly subjects and reading and writing
• Soldier: My personal pick, you fought in a battle, or you were just a soldier in the royal army
• Wayfarer: Its the polite term for if you want your charecter to be homeless and kicked out the house

I want to stress the importance of online tools and the players handbook. If you cannot afford the players handbook there are PDF's online. (which will be featured in the forums) I do want to warn you about something. People will say: "OH! You play d&d? Nerd!" or some other really rude stuff that I wont list here. Do not let this discourage you from any thing you do! Even if it isnt d&d, dont quit because someone thinks its wierd, or evil, or whatever. D&D has genuinly changed the way I view the world in a good way. Another thing: People who play Dungeons and Dragons might say that you "need" really expensive miniature figures or $100 dice and a charecter sheet bought at the store. News flash! You dont. Dice you bought at dollar tree and a charecter sheet drawn on some paper or printed online work perfectly.

Now that we got that out of the way, we continue on to your Race! Race in D&D means your species, in fact, in the new 5.5e version of the rules, race is changed to species!
